Palo Santo Chips
Palo Santo or "Holy Wood" is a natural aromatic wood incense used for centuries by the Incas for purifying and cleansing, traditionally used to get rid of evil spirits and misfortune.
Sustainably harvested, Palo Santo is gathered from naturally fallen trees and branches that lie dead for 4-10 yrs. before they are harvested.
You can use it alone or blend it with Frankincense, Myrrh, and Copals to create your own unique incense blends. Smudging has been a ritual and ceremonial practice used by cultures around the world since humans have existed. The Native Americans have used the earths’ plants, both fresh and dry, for healing. Plants are known to carry their own energy, just as our bodies and surroundings do. The art of smudging, with burning sage, woods or herbs and focusing on our own ritual and prayers, helps to clear negative unwanted energy. Smudging cleanses, rebalances and opens fresh energy so our life and chakra energy continues to flow much like an open river so we can move forward. Stagnant old energy holds us back from living an energetic authentic life!
I love to use an Abalone shell to hold the herbs for smudging, I believe that using it brings in a balance of the four elements to the smudging ritual: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. You may choose to use a fireproof bowl, plate, ceramic pot, small baking dish, censer, brazier, or other vessel in which to burn your loose or crushed herbs. I prefer loose herbs or wood chips over bundles I find them easier to use day to day though the both have their place.
